trivia night
May. 1st, 2019 01:44 amI play trivia with my friend Sarah and her friend Sierra Club Guy, and sometimes other people from our book group or our families. Geeks Who Drink has two audio rounds, and none of us has listened to much popular music in the last 20 years, so we usually don't win unless there is a young person on our team.
Sierra Club Guy plays trivia three times a week, at other venues, with his other friends, including Trump Guy. Trump Guy stopped coming to the trivia night that Sarah and I go to a few months ago. Maybe because we don't win often? Maybe because I kind of usurped his place as the one who decides what to write on our answer sheet?
Sierra Club Guy would like my big weird body of knowledge to join one of his other trivia teams. I like Sierra Club Guy but really dislike Trump Guy, and not just because he voted for Trump, so I haven't gone. But this Saturday they are playing in a regional event. Sierra Club Guy has asked me twice to join them, and I'm dithering.
It's a different format from Geeks Who Drink. I don't know if I'd be any good at it. I don't know what their other friends are like. It's a long drive, though Sierra Club Guy has offered me a ride. I'm working at the Raptor Center that afternoon, which is very tiring.
But I keep imagining myself sailing in and bringing them to victory. It is ridiculously appealing.
