My plans to replace my garage with raised beds got derailed or at least delayed, but I got two anyway. This space in front of the shed had lots of irises, daylilies, and peonies that had to be moved, but I moved them.

I had to take out a lot of soil to level the ground for the new raised bed. I outlined a 4' x 8' rectangle with old bricks, and put some leftover ceramic floor tiles between that rectangle and the shed. Then I measured the new raised bed, and learned that it is 4'3" x 8'1". So I had to take out some more soil. 4' x 8' is easy to do with bricks, even if you don't have enough of any one kind of brick. 4'3" x 8'1" is trickier, but fortunately if you have a lot of old bricks you are likely to have a variety of broken bricks to choose from.

My husband and son put the new raised bed in place while I was at work and fortunately it fit!
