Shaming someone for using a plastic straw isn't going to save even one turtle. But the person who struggles to drink without a straw sure does make an easier target than the oil and gas industry.

I need straws

I've had to switch to nonbendable/nonpositionable paper straws since plastic straws were banned in my state, which has resulted in more "liquid trying to get into my lungs" incidents

and the smug self righteousness of the antistraw people is ...!

I actually wrote to the Premier saying "if you ban plastic straws, how will Disabled people get plastic straws"

and I got back a form response "there will be a mechanism for Disabled people to get plastic straws"

no sign of any such mechanism so far, it was just a meaningless statement
