Dutch broke one of her dewclaws off. Mungo has kept it bandaged, clean, and dry, and watched for signs of infection, but it took a long time to heal. In the mean time, she had her annual vet visit. The vet prescribed an antibiotic to hasten the healing.
I knew better. But I deferred to the vet's authority and gave her the antibiotic. Now she's having frequent terrible symptoms of gastric distress. I'm giving her a probiotic and a dollop of yogurt every day in hopes of restoring her microbiome.
She wants to clean her butt, but she can't reach it because she still has the cone on. I often see her looking at it reproachfully.
Next time the vet prescribes an antibiotic just in case, just say no.
C and S are in my book group. C said she would come to my house this Sunday, S still hasn't RSVPed. This morning S texted me that C has covid. S said she wanted me to have a correct head count before I went shopping, but S still didn't say whether she was planning to come... which worries me, because S and C went to Geeks Who Drink pub quiz last Sunday, and sat together for a couple hours at a small table with masks off.
Mungo says you might be contagious up to three days before you test positive; Sunday evening to Thursday morning is a bit over three days, but that doesn't give me any reassurance unless C tested negative on Wednesday.
I don't know whether S was exposed, I don't know whether she is planning to come, so... I think I need to cancel or postpone book group.
My mom is getting less and less able to take care of herself. One of my sister's sons is living with her and keeping her fed and safe, but... three of her teeth just broke off in her mouth from decay. I don't know how they found out; my sister said she tried to keep it hidden from them. Mom had always been proud of keeping all her teeth. I guess that's gone now.
