I have a couple more days of just eating whatever is in the fridge. Sometimes that is sad, but today kaberett made me think about squash blossoms. I have cheese in the fridge and tortillas in the freezer, so, a simple pumpkin blossom quesadilla:




I took a break from emptying my house to go to Rebecca Roanhorse reading at the bookstore. Worth it!

Which bookstore? I was up at Coopersmith's a couple of weeks ago to visit a dying in-law, and was thinking wistfully of Stone Lion.

It's no Stone Lion, but Old Firehouse Books is a real bookstore, owned and staffed by people who read. The Staff Recommendation shelves always make me happy. It's on Walnut, a half block north of Coopersmith's. It shares the old firehouse/jail building with Happy Lucky Tea Shop.

Rebecca Roanhorse! That's cool. I haven't yet read her work, but I wondered if it would work for a class on speculative literature / Wonderworks.
