I am not doing very well. I was just hanging in there, waiting for things to get better, just enough better that I'd have enough energy to take some actions to actually make things better. Spending the day in bed, mostly, because I'm not sleeping well because I have to get up every couple of hours to change my tampon. Managing to make tea. Managing to feed the dogs without bending over. Worrying about finding something to eat, getting the sidewalk shoveled, getting more tampons and toilet paper and clean laundry when I run out.

I got up to have another cup of tea and set my bite guard on the table because I was just going to drink my tea and then put my bite guard back in and go back to bed. But I got interrupted by sudden gushing from the nether regions. When I got back from changing my tampon -- you know where this story is going, don't you? -- I discovered the little dog chewing pieces off my bite guard.

Now I can't stop sobbing. I should call the dentist and see if she can fix it, but I don't have a car and if I did I couldn't leave the house because I would bleed all over everything and anyway I can't make a phone call because I can't stop sobbing.

Things that might be helpful but feel free to ignore them if they are not helpful:

You could order tampons and toilet paper from Amazon or some other online place and have them sent to your house.

When I was hemorraghing, I used to wear tampons and then two extra-long maxi pads overlapping each other in my underwear and that would usually keep me from bleeding all over things for a little while. It felt a bit like wearing a diaper but it temporarily contained the red tide so that I could leave the house for an hour or so. Or you can bring a towel to sit on in the car and in chairs. People will just think you're paranoid about germs.

Oh yes, I have a towel in the car, and on days like that I wear two pairs of underpants - the old ones I don't care about making a mess on first, and the well-fitting ones on top holding everything on more securely.

Oh, god, that sounds horrible. Do you have any local support people who might do your laundry and get you things and maybe drop off your bite guard with the dentist?

I have totally been there with the slide into being incapable of dealing (physically and emotionally) and then it being hard/impossible to ask for help. it is specially hard when one is bleeding all over and it feels sort of like physical disintegration and i feel gross. I remember this one time when I basically bled over everything in the house but was not capable of getting out to a laundromat (of course... since i was actually hemorrhaging)

If I were there and could... i would come over and dig you out of the immediate situation... <3

Thank you for the sympathy. I do have local people to ask for help, and they did bring me food and offers to run errands. So I do feel much better now. Not up to facing the dentist yet. And unfortunately she'll need both the bite guard and my teeth while she's doing the repair.

Thank you. I can order takeout, but I feel bad about it when I haven't shoveled the driveway. But Mungo brought me Indian food, so I'm better.

It's OK to accept help when you need it. It's okay to accept help in whatever order feels right to you, because when people offer to help, they're not offering to judge your choices.

(Or if they are, exploit the hell out of them first. :,))

Best wishes. Also most chain drugstores sell Depends, and they can carry you over in a pinch with an extra pad. That way you don't have to worry about washing anything (although your butt truly gets humid).
