I haven't had a period in so long I don't remember whether it was December or January. I don't have to try to figure that out anymore because the fucking clock just fucking restarted.
I'm 56 and technically menopausal, so I think you're both well within the range of normal. (If I bleed now, I go to the doctor to get it checked out, but I'm only a couple of years ahead of you in the process.)
Hell. Could be worse, though, you could be my mum who at about 48 just started bleeding and only stopped for a few days at a time. They burnt up the inside of her uterus then took it out.
Please keep a record and talk to your physician about it whenever you next go in. Many years ago when I had a period after 6 months of none, my GYN was quite concerned when I told her about having a period--she said it wasn't a period but shedding uterine growth that should not be happening in the first place. Because it's not supposed to be growing and yet stays in for a long time, it could become an infection.
The women in my family hit menopause on the late end of the scale but they also have other weird things happen. One of my aunts had one period a year every year between ages 58-68 before it stopped altogether.
