Poison is what I was afraid of, when I thought mice were dying all over the house. But one visit from Death of Mice is normal, especially if the mouse fell down an airvent. The last dead mouse had crawled into the back of the refrigerator. I don't know whether it got electrocuted, but I unplugged the refrigerator before I extracted it!
