Jun. 10th, 2022 11:56 pmWe went to see Zoe Keating at Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder tonight. I don't know whether live music will ever feel safe again, but it did feel good. Keating appeared with a poet, Andrea Gibson, who was also really good.
We bought the tickets before the pandemic. It has been postponed a bunch of times. The last time was from May 21 to June 10 because Boulder was having some exciting weather. The Chautauqua still shares a bit of the gazebo nature; the roof is solid, and the walls at the stage end are, but the sides and back are full of gaps even when all the doors are closed. And the seats are terrible! I think my tailbone hurt less after sitting on bare stone at Red Rocks.
Gibson and Keating both talked about how it felt to be doing a live show again. Gibson survived cancer this year. There was a lot of "happy to be here" in the room.
