I love her. We should be friends. I do not know whether she feels the same way about me: My holds this week were Red Moon, by Kim Stanley Robinson, and the movie Free Guy.

Had my second bunionectomy yesterday. It went fine, even though the podiatrist's first surgery of the day went long, so all the following were delayed. Mine was scheduled for 2:15 but started after 4:30. I hadn't had anything to eat since dinner the night before, or anything to drink since bedtime. (When the podiatrist came in to talk to me, he said, "Are you okay?" I said, "Are you okay?" I am not thrilled about the idea of being operated on by someone who is working overtime after an extra-stressful day, but he assured me he was fine, so...)

I wanted to talk to the anesthesiologist about preventing me from grinding my teeth when I was under. I was sure that I had not talked to him before the first surgery, but as we were talking I remembered that I had! I didn't recognize his name or his face, but he was wearing a duck-style mask both times. The first surgery was the first time I had ever seen one.

The drug that stops you from remembering the surgery came after that, after I was moved to the operating room, but apparently it disrupts memories from before it is administered. It's interesting that it doesn't seem to erase the memories, just makes them harder to find!
