Very soft clean fluffy gray and white kitty in my back yard. Unfortunately my big dog was also in the yard, and she thought she saw a very large slow squirrel. I got between dog and cat and let the cat get to the fence, but this cat didn't know how to get over the fence. So I decided I had to pick the cat up. Cat was puffed-up and growly. I sounded like the man with two brains, flipping back and forth between, in my sweetest voice, "Nice kitty, safe kitty, I'm going to pick you up," and my stern voice to the dog, "No. Leave it." Fortunately they each got the right message.
Afterwards I realized that that cat does not seem to be used to being outdoors, and probably needed to be taken home, but at the time I was just rushing inside to wash my hands and face and change my shirt, because I am allergic. I hope it gets home safe.
