The True Queen, by Zen Cho. A delight.
• What did you recently finish reading?
"Mild as a Rabbit, Wild as a Hare", by Delphi, here: https://delphi.dreamwidth.org/434139.html
His Dark Materials, Iorek Byrnison/Lee Scoresby.
• What do you think you’ll read next?
Deep Creek: Finding Hope in the High Country, by Pam Houston, for Tawanda book group.
• What are you watching?
Mr Hublot.
Hearts Beat Loud. A nice little movie about living with mismatches between your calling and your talents, marred by an ugly, unnecessary subplot in which Nick Offerman's character lets the nice-guy mask slip to reveal a sense of entitlement to sexual fidelity from a woman who may have contemplated the possibility of dating him. He does apologize, sort of, but since he doesn't actually say what he is sorry for, I think it was not for assuming property rights over another person, just for getting drunk, going to her house in the middle of the night, and shouting mean things at her.
Blockers. This looks like dumb gross drugs and sex humor, but someone told me there's good female friendship too. It isn't as important to the movie as the extremely weird relationships the girls have with their extremely weird parents, but it is good. You'd have to wade through a lot of dumb gross drugs and sex humor though.
