I'd heard it was going to freeze tonight, so I was out picking all the basil, even though I thought it had to be a false alarm. I checked the weather forecast when I came in: high of 84, low of 28! And the next few nights will be freezing too.

Something I always wonder this time of year: vegetarian fried green tomatoes, worth a try?

I brought in lots of stuff last night, though I don't think we had a frost/ I'm giving a possible-maybe Crenshaw another day.

I am quite fond of fried green tomatoes, meself. Sometimes I slice them thin and batter 'em, but often I just cut them in half. They're also excellent in spaghetti sauce and soup. :)
