Major recall of veterinary anesthetics.

Thanks to jonquil for pointing to this news. Boosting the signal, just in case.

Two of my dogs are scheduled to go under anesthesia. Aiko will lose two testicles and probably two molars and gain a microchip Monday morning. Tai has a lump. I'm having a hard time talking about it. He's going in two weeks from today, unless someone else cancels a big-enough time slot earlier.

I have a call in to my vet to ask about their anesthesia.

I hope both Aiko and Tai come through this okay. If your vet is any good (and I'm sure you wouldn't go to her if she wasn't), she'll understand why you're asking and have followed up on the recall.

Wow, that's pretty scary. I can't believe an FDA recall can be so... ineffective. I'm pretty sure that when a drug is recalled here, a central Government organisation issues the recall and it gets posted out to all doctors and pharmacies. But I only know about human medicine - maybe they're not so careful with veterinary stuff here, either?

Hope Tai's lump turns out to be utterly benign and boring. *hugs* if you want them.
