I have resolved to climb Mount TBR at goodreads, even though I made a storygraph account last year and immediately stopped tracking my reading with either of them. Try, try again. Fail better.

I did finish my GYWO habit pledge. I'm going to try a Word Count pledge this year. 75K.

I didn't get to sleep until 4 a.m. last night. It's so hard to keep good sleep habits in the winter, when I'm not getting enough exercise and the house is too cold.

I was hurrying out of the house, caught my toe in some trumpetvine, and fell. Didn't break anything but bent and scratched my glasses. The optician did her best to bend them back into usable shape for while I'm waiting for my new glasses, but I was still having headaches until I thought "this is what I kept my old glasses for." Old glasses are also a bit scratched, but cleared up the headache.

I was hurrying to get to my appointment for the RSV vaccine, so I had a couple days of feeling just terrible that might have been due to the fall, the vaccine, or catching something in unmasked pharmacy, but that has cleared up too.

The pharmacist who gave me the vaccine asked, "You're not sick, are you? With the mask, I have to ask."
I said, "No, I'm going to see my mom in a couple weeks. If I have to go through an airport I want all the vaccines. I don't want to pick up anything and give it to my mom. She'll be eighty-nine in January." I should have said that I never stopped masking and haven't had Covid, even though I tutor schoolkids, but... I'm tired.

It's not a good time to travel but when will it ever be. I've been putting it off because I couldn't bear to leave Newt, but I finally realized that it was time to let him go. He was a good brave loyal dog, with a great heart.

I am sorry about Newt.

I've very nearly been done in more than once by a loop of Virginia creeper. I keep thinking they should just engineer it to glow faintly at all times. It's so insidious, like so many vines.

My son gave me a stern look, and said, "Old ladies are allowed to be late. You don't need to rush for anything."

This trumpet vine has roots that go meters deep and all around the house. I keep trying to transplant a piece over by the back fence, for the hummingbirds, and cut down every piece that pops up next to the house, except for just one vine right in front of the porch. Those big red trumpets are so pretty!

Oh, yes, it's a gorgeous vine, really prettier than Virginia creeper, though I have a soft spot for that one because it turns such a lovely red in the autumn.

Your trumpet vine seems to think it owns the place and might have opinions about hurrying. That sounds just really impressive.

I have some sweet autumn clematis that came with the house and I keep trying to get it to climb on trellises, but it scorns them and climbs on giant Solomon's seal and volunteer mulberries instead. It also trips me, but lacks the loopiness of the Virginia creeper.
