I have uploaded a video, and I think you can watch it:
https://vimeo.com/73540241

Me, telling a story. Just over six minutes. All feedback welcome.

ETA: Warning for mention of bad pregnancy outcome.

ETFA: This story is actually meant to be funny. If it made you laugh, or came close, I'd be glad to know that. I'd be especially glad to know where it made you laugh.

Wow. That's some seriously personal stuff. I agree about the mdeity thing.

This is so clear and so telling about Doctor C, and about one more way that power corrupts, ie the knowledge-is-power kind of power eroding the ability to even hear, let alone accept, any correction.
I would love to think that showing this as part of medico's training might pre-emptively bloc some of the development of mdeity, but the structures are so strong and so pervasive that it doesn't seem likely.
Anyway, a very pointed and wrenching story, and well-told. I'm sorry for your having gone through those sad and gruelling times.

Look at my awesome friend being all great on the internet!

I love that Neil stepped in. :) At least you guys got rid of that doctor. Imagine if he'd been trying to tell you how right he was while you were delivering your babies.

I watched this shortly after you posted it and had lots of thoughts and feelings but wasn't ready to comment on it yet, but I've enjoyed revisiting it in memory since then and I enjoyed watching it again just now.

I think you're a wonderful storyteller. I could identify with so much of what you said -- not the specifics, of course, and never in that medical specialty -- but oh, yes, the "MDiety" is something I've experienced and rolled my eyes over (or, on occasion, raged over), and I instantly adopted the expression. You made me grin, you made me laugh out loud at one point, and you let me know you a bit more. For which I thank you.

Also: You have a wonderful face. Have people told you that? I see your face, watch you tell your story and listen to your voice -- I see your face that's not good at falsehoods -- and I see someone I think I would like, and would like to know.
