So the child of mine whose aim seems to be to always do the minimum work necessary is back in school for a senior year that was going to be slack. But he wants to go to McGill, so he's taking French. "I want you to practice French with me every day," I say. "NO!" he says. What the fuck, kid. How do you learn French without practicing?

And the one who seems to be incapable of doing the minimum is taking another semester off for another unpaid internship, this time at UIUC. Her PI has offered to put her in touch with other ex-Reedies in hopes of finding some co-op housing. I hope she'll make friends. I hope she'll stay warm and not too SAD.

What's the one at UIUC interested in/what kind of people would she like to hang out with? I know a number of people there, mostly connected with the library school.
