This week's episode of Criminal Minds reminds me how much I'd like to see Thomas Gibson play Aral Vorkosigan in any adaptation of the Barrayar books.

There's an absolutely brilliant fic of Aral facing down Piotr after Piotr attempted to smother Miles, which I could not not hear in Aaron Hotchner's voice. I think it is less than six months old, but I can't refind it. Do you know what I'm talking about?

ETA: Thanks to [personal profile] vera_l and [personal profile] aedifica, I know that it is Hold the Line, by Dira Sudis. It is so good. It's one of those fics that you'd use to show a skeptic, goddam, look at what fanfic can do!

"I will demonstrate to him that he cannot possibly win," Aral explained. "And if I cannot make him see that, then I will do what is necessary to ensure that he cannot have access to Miles, or to you, ever again."

Can't you just hear Aaron Hotchner delivering that line, and the whole speech to Piotr, in a voice that completely convinces the adult he's addressing without upsetting the baby in his arms?

Maybe it's Hold the Line, by Dira Sudis? If not, I highly recommend that one as another take on the same thing.

I was about to suggest the same one (after searching through my bookmarks). The Dreamwidth copy is http://dira.dreamwidth.org/554800.html .

I don't watch CM, so I had to go looking for a clip, and this is what I found. Awwww.
