Birthday: October 30. I grew up near Detroit, so to me this is a holiday named 'Devil's Night'. In my neighborhood, this involved toilet paper, not arson.

What are you studying/What are you working as: Um.

What makes you happy/hobbies: My daughter once said, "All you care about is books, plants, and babies!" I said "Dogs?", she said, "Your dogs are your babies!"

She wasn't complaining, exactly, since she is also my babies; she was criticizing or maybe just commenting on how I spend my time. And money.

I care about my friends and my stories, too, and I know I would be happier if I spent more time on them, but friends and stories make me anxious (and the more time I spend with them the more anxious they make me) and books, plants, and dogs do not.

An interesting fact about you: I tell stories. I'm pretty funny.

Are you in love/have a crush at the moment? Um. Yeah. The beautiful man at Wiscon. Yeah.

It's been a long time since I thought about Devil's Night. You probably mentioned where near Detroit you grew up, but I don't remember?

Bloomfield Hills. But I didn't go to school with Mitt Romney. I went to the hippy, social justice, open classroom, child-directed learning private school. The one that named its new buildings the Martin Luther King Domes. In 1969.

Lucky. (Well I don't know if you felt that way.) Me: Grosse Pointe, the traditional not-particularly-religious-but-we-still-had-to-wear-uniforms private school.

Yes, I loved my school. I still do. I wished I could move back to Michigan to send my kids there. They went to a hippy social justice individualized education private school named Rivendell here, which we are all very fond of, but I still wish I could have sent them to Roeper.

this year at wiscon i realized that i was crushing out on the same person that i had crushed out on the year before. still very very hot. i am still not interested in long distance relationships with people who have primary partners. (i don't know what i am interested in. just for the record.) but this year there was talking to said person and some gnawing on my knuckles.

Mmn. I went from "my goodness that is a very beautiful man" to "want" when the person I am crushing on walked into the Feminist Bottoms panel about halfway through.

I know, that doesn't tell me anything about his sexuality. And I don't know whether he's poly, or interested in fat dorky older women, or anything else that might give my daydreams a bit of foundation. But all he had to do to spark my daydreams was walk in and stand there. *bites knuckles*
