I have in my hands one hard-boiled egg and one raw egg. I do not know which is which. That Encyclopedia Brown trick of spinning the eggs? I can't get either of them to spin.

Which one of them do you want for what? And are you trying to spin them on a cloth? Because that trick is really for spinning on a smooth surface.

(The question I forgot to answer:) I was spinning on a smooth surface, but my floor is seriously not orthogonal to gravity!

What are you planning to do with them? A raw egg gives off bubbles when its immersed in water close to the boiling point, but you might not want to do that with an egg you need to STAY raw.

I was going to eat the hard-boiled one, and boil the other with the full box of eggs I just got so I'd have a box of boiled eggs in the fridge. That is very interesting about the bubbles.
