My kid said once, "Books, plants, and babies, that's all you care about."

The only rejoinder I could make was, "Dogs?"

She rolled her eyes and said, "Your dogs are your babies."


She wasn't saying that I didn't care enough about her. She knows that she and her brother are also my babies. She just thought I ought to have like a career or something.
