I am not currently reading anything. I just finished The Girl With All the Gifts because it was available in the SPL.org audio pile, on top. It was OK. I saw the "twist" coming but it was interesting seeing it play out, and the writing and reading were competent, and the book wasn't too long.
I had to return Crossfire by Dick Francis (and Felix Francis) because it was dire. I can accept a few grammatical/word usage errors in my potboilers but unlikable characters, tax evasion and arch, bored reader delivery aren't a good combination. Scanning my Overdrive history, it looks like I've returned more books than I've finished lately.
I don't have anything on my list to read next. That think by Zen Cho looks doable. I heard a reading by Eva Elasigue at Norwescon, which was inaudible and excessively complex, so I might have to read some elaborately detailed space fairy worldbuilding to make up for feeling grumpy about that.
