visual migraine that doesn't go away

Last night, while she was waiting to catch the train back to Portland, Nixie texted me about experiencing bright-light afterimages that weren't going away. I said it sounds like a visual migraine, I used to get those, I'm glad you're not driving, it'll probably be gone by morning.

This morning they were still there. Eventually she went to the emergency room, where, eventually, they decided she needed a CAT scan. The CAT scan was fine so now they want to do an MRI.

How scared should I be?

How scared should I be?

I can't answer that exact question, but I don't think of it as unusual for a migraine to last more than a day if untreated; in fact I think of that as a standard feature of the disorder. The CT scan being normal is a good sign. I hope the MRI is also fine.

*hugs*

(I don't get visual migraines, but I do get migraines, and this happened to [personal profile] spatch earlier this fall.)

Yes, migraines can last for days.

That's all I know.

Glad the MRI found nothing unusual!
