Some pictures of planting in my new raised bed.
This is the mulch I use to deter the cats. It is the hulls of the seedpods of the large catalpa that shades my front yard. I have cleared a spot and sliced through the paper underneath.

Here's a picture of a catalpa seed pod still hanging on the bare tree.

Also a lot of dandelions!
Three New England Pie Pumpkin seedlings. I know, I should snip at least one of them.
I dumped a bucket of soil right there and mixed it in a bit; the rest of the raised bed is filled with straight compost.

Irises are blooming! The purples started opening last week. The whites smell like lemon.

That's alotta catalpa pods. I wonder if you could make a fortune marketing them as specialty mulch.
